Policy: The International Journal of African Studies is designed to interrogate and analyze the lived experiences of Africana people. The Journal focuses on the interrogation of African people and societies from the perspective of African humanity. It is primarily concerned with examining the historical realities, organizational and political behavior, socio-economic dynamics and cultural practices of African people. The Journal promotes scholarly debate and research on issues relating to the African global experience. It will only publish original scholarly papers and creative works that focus on critical issues confronting Africana development and humanity. Articles must demonstrate rigorous and thorough research that is relevant to the local, national and global African experience.
Submissions: Unsolicited papers are welcome for consideration for regular issues as well as for special summer editions; however, the summer editions are usually by invitation. Manuscripts should not exceed 15-18 double spaced pages including references. The Journal subscribes to APA and MLA styles. All contributions should be in manuscript form (or by email through an attachment) and on a 3.5-inch diskette using either PC or Macintosh "Microsoft Word". A brief biographical paragraph describing the author's current affiliation and research should accompany the manuscript.
Review Process: All submissions to the journal are subject to a double blind review process. Papers are evaluated for their scholarly soundness, originality and intellectual contribution to the discipline. The Journal only publishes articles that have not been published or accepted for publication elsewhere. Ton ensure return of manuscript, authors must enclose a self-addressed, postage-paid envelope.
Publishing Dates: The International Journal of Africana Studies (ISSN 1056-8689) is published twice annually: Fall (September/October) and Spring (March/April). In addition, Special Summer Issues (July/August) are also planned.
Subscriptions: Regular institutional rates are $70.00 per year, $35.00 per issue. Individuals may subscribe at a rate of $40.00 per year, $20.00 per issue. Add $10.00 for subscriptions outside the United States. All orders must be pre-paid. Subscriptions are accepted on a yearly basis only. Checks and money orders should be made payable to the International Journal of Africana Studies.
Back Issues: Information about availability and prices of back issues may be obtained from the Managing Editor (address below).
Claims: Claims for undelivered copies must be made no later than three months following the month of publication. The publisher will supply missing copies when losses have been sustained in transit and when the reserve stock will allow.
Change of Address: Six weeks advance notice must be given when notifying of change of address. Please send the new address along with the old address to the International Journal of Africana Studies to ensure proper identification (see address below).
