POLICY: The JOURNAL OF BLACK STUDIES seeks to sustain a full analytical discussion of issues related to persons of African descent. Original scholarly papers are invited on a wide range of social science questions. The editors favor those articles that demonstrate rigorous and thorough research in an interdisciplinary context.

MANUSCRIPTS should be submitted in duplicate (one hard copy and one disk copy) to the Editor, JOURNAL OF BLACK STUDIES, Department of African American Studies, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA 19122. Disk copies should be IBM compatible. Disks cannot be returned to the author and no estimated date of publication can be issued without receipt of a disk copy of the manuscript. Articles should be no more than 25 typewritten left-justified, double-spaced pages, including references, endnotes, biographical statements, and tables. Each section should begin on a separate page. Text, References, and endnotes must follow the style of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (4th ed.). Figures and charts must be clean, black-and-white camera-ready copies. A brief paragraph (50 words of less) describing each author's current affiliation and research interests should also accompany the manuscript. Style sheets are availiable upon request. Please allow 4-6 months for review of all submitted articles. Manuscripts should not be under consideration at any other journal at the time of submission. The JOURNAL OF BLACK STUDIES does not publish, in whole or in part, articles that have been previously published in other journals.

REVIEWS: Books for review and annotation should be sent to the attention of the Editor (address above). Review essays and bibliographic articles and compliations are sought. Potential contributors of such material are advised to correspond with the Editor.
