SAFERE provides women with a writing platform that is feminist in content and orientation. It provides a forum for African women to express their ideas and interests through a medium that supports and encourages feminist opinions and positions. It is one of barely a handful of feminist journals coming out of Africa, and through careful editing and the collection of high quality written work, it has established itself as a journal of world-standing from the time it was first published in 1995.
